Will Fees
Simple Straightforward Single Person Will
In our experience a simple straightforward Will leaves everything to the children with a provision for the grandchildren to inherit should a child have predeceased the Donor.
Costs:
£195.00 plus VAT
Additions to the Simple Straightforward Will
(a) Pecuniary Legacies
Pecuniary Legacies are sums of money that have been bequeathed to an individual or charity and are payable first from the money in the estate.
(b) Specific Legacies
Specific legacies are items which have been bequeathed to individuals (such as jewellery and other personal items)
If you want to leave specific legacies we would normally deal with this in a memorandum of wishes signed by you.
Costs:
Ranging from £5.00-£30.00 per Will depending on the extent of additional clauses.
This gives you the flexibility to change these wishes as and when you want to without the need to execute a new Will.
Simple Straightforward Married Couple Will
In our experience a simple straightforward Will leaves everything to the surviving spouse and then onto the children with a provision for the grandchildren to inherit should a child have predeceased the Donor.
Costs:
£375.00 plus VAT
(a) Specific Gift of Property
If you want to leave your home to a named individual rather than for the property to form part of the residue of the estate.
(b) Right of Occupation
If you want to leave somebody the right to live in your property for their lifetime but for the property to be held on trust for another individual.
(c) Ultimate Beneficiaries
If the provisions go beyond that of children or grandchildren if they have predeceased.
Costs:
Ranging from £10.00-£40.00 per Will.
More Complex Wills
Severing the Joint Tenancy
As a way of preserving 50% of the family home, many people decide to sever their joint tenancy leaving a 50/50 division of the property between the occupants.
This would then leave a right of occupation to the survivor although 50% would be bequeathed to another named individual and therefore this share is preserved and cannot be taken into account for nursing care fees.
Costs:
£300.00 plus VAT for single person
£600.00 plus VAT for married couple
Mutual Wills
Mutual Wills are frequently executed when we attend on couples of a second marriage who have children from a first marriage.
The mutual Will acts as a legally binding agreement between people to ensure that their respective families will ultimately be provided for.
Costs:
£400.00 plus VAT
Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependents) Act 1975
If there are members of your family you do not wish to inherit that may have a potential claim on your estate you can sign a declaration to put alongside your Will to express your intentions.
Costs:
£10.00 additional to standard charge
Discretionary Trust Wills
This allows the Trustee discretion to pay the beneficiary as much of the Trust income as is felt appropriate.
Costs:
£350.00 plus VAT for single person
£650.00 plus VAT for married couple
Codicils
A codicil is simply an amendment or addition to your existing Will that is placed alongside the Will.
Costs:
£100.00 plus VAT for single person
£150.00 plus VAT for married couple
N.B. If the changes are significant it may be that a new Will is required rather than a codicil
