The motto of Larcomes is “big enough to specialise, small enough to care.” But why is it important to have specialists on a legal team? Surely if you need legal advice, all you want is someone who knows how to represent you? As with a lot of things it is not quite as simple as that.

Training and experience

Most legal representatives will be able to represent you in a court of law. However, as with most professions over time a lot of people become more experienced at certain areas more than others. It may be because they became more interested in a certain aspect of the law or simply that it was part of their background (for example training in the aviation industry.)

More in depth knowledge

Specific in depth knowledge is useful in situations where they require it. For example in divorce proceedings it would help to have a legal representative who specialises in family law. For example they would be more likely to know the details around child maintenance payments. More importantly in this example they should also be sensitive because it is a naturally emotive area and this would often require someone who is experienced enough to also be empathetic.

Knowing difficult procedures

Another example of this is medical negligence claims. Not only does this involve a knowledge of medical law but it also requires someone who is able to prove that someone has been negligent. There is a big difference between making a mistake and being negligent – the latter is as a result of not properly following procedures. This can be very difficult to prove which is why you are more likely to get a positive outcome with someone who has the relevant experience.

The best chance

While no legal representative can (or indeed should) guarantee a positive outcome, the simple fact is that having someone who has trained in a particular aspect that is relevant to your particular case is a massive advantage. They are more likely to know the right questions to ask, have access to the right people and generally speaking will have the appropriate experience.

Key contacts

At Larcomes we make it easy for you – we have a number of key contacts in various departments, all of whom have the right experience for their specific field of expertise.

The reason why we do this is two-fold. On the one hand, we want our clients to have access to the best possible legal representatives to help them with their case. On the other. we also believe that you want someone who is available, who will be willing to discuss a legal matter with you and is approachable.

If you have a legal matter that you would like to discuss or would like to talk with a specific legal representative you will see a wide array on our website, alongside background information so you know more about them. If you have an enquiry and would like to know more contact us today and we’ll be happy to put you in touch with the right people.
